If you live in Colorado you know the weather here is kinda all over the place. One day its hot and sunny, next day its snow, rain or crazy wind. Thats why painting outside here is not simple like other states. If you want your house to look good longer, you gotta think different about paint.
Sun is the worst enemy
Colorado gets lot of sun, like seriously too much. Dark colors fade super fast and some paints just peel off like paper after a year or two. I seen folks go cheap on paint and regret it, walls looking old in no time. UV proof paints or higher quality brands are worth it, trust me on that.
Dry air cracks stuff
The dry air here makes wood shrink and expand so the paint cracks if you dont prep it right. Sanding, priming, sealing – ya its boring but if you skip it your paint wont even last a couple seasons. I’ve seen people just slap paint and think its fine but after winter its already flaking off.
Best time to paint
Dont just paint whenever. Summer mid-day heat makes it dry too fast, winter its too cold and paint dont even stick proper. Spring and early fall are usually best, thats when we at Windsor Painting get most calls. Weather matters more than folks think.
